The Teatro Municipale, a nineteenth-century theatre with four tiers of boxes, still retains beautiful stuccowork and gilding, partly because of major restoration work that followed a protracted shutdown between the Second World War and 1990.  The season, which includes prose, music and dance, is organised by the Municipality of Casale Monferrato with the support of Fondazione Piemonte dal Vivo.
